Once upon a time there lived a grandfather and a grandmother. With them lived their granddaughter, Masha (in the English story she is called Goldilocks). And one day some girls from the village made up their minds to go into the woods for mushrooms and berries.

    - Grandpa, Grandma, - says Masha, - let me go into the woods with my friends!

Grandparents reply:- Go ahead, just look on the girlfriends and do keep up, do not get lost.

The girls came into the forest and began to pick up mushrooms and berries. Here Masha - tree by tree, bush by bush - and soon she has gone far, far away from friends. She began to halloo to the others, began to call them, but her friends did not hear, did not respond. Went, went Masha in the forest - quite lost.

She came to the wilderness itself, into the very thicket. Sees - there is a hut. Masha knocked at the door - no answer. She pushed to open the door - the door opened. Masha entered the hut and sat on a bench by the window. Sat down and thought: "Who lives here? Why no one I do not see?"

And in the hut lived a great big Bear. Only then he was not at home, he walked in the woods. The Bear returned in the evening, saw Masha, and was delighted. - Yeah, - he says - now I will not let you go! You will stay here. You are to fire the stove, cook the porridge, feed me with the porridge. Masha sighed, mourned, but nothing helped. She began to live with the Bear in the hut.

Bear everyday goes into the woods, and tells Masha not to go out. - And if you go, - he says - i will catch you and then will eat you up! Masha became to think how to run away. The forest is big, which way to go - does not know, no one to ask. She thought and thought and came up with an idea.

There comes a time the bear arrives from the woods and Masha says to him: - Bear, bear, let me go for a day in the village, I must bring some gifts to my grandfather and my grandmother. - No, - said the bear - you will get lost in the woods. Give me the gifts, I'll take them myself. Ok! - Masha thinks!

She baked many pies, got a big, very big box and told the bear: - Hey, look: I'll put some pies in this box, and you take them in your backpack to my grandfather and my grandmother. But remember: do not open the box while en-route, do not touch the cakes. I will climb the tall oak tree, watch you carefully! - Well, - says the Bear - here we go!

Masha says: - One more thing to do - get out on the porch, look at whether there is rain! The Bear went to the porch for a second, Masha immediately got into the box, put on her head a pie dish. The bear, returned and sees - the box is ready. He hoisted the box into his backpack and walked towards the village.

There is a bear walking among the fir trees, wandering among the birch trees, bear in the ravines, up, down, bear on a hill climbs. He was very tired and says to himself : - I must sit on a stump, Eat a cake! Masha calls from inside the box: - I can see, I see! Do not sit on a stump, Do not eat a cake! Bring it to my grandma Bring it to my grandpa!

    - Look! - sighs the bear! She is so big-eyed- everything she sees! He put on his backpack and walked away. He walked-walked, walked, walked, stopped, sat down and said: - Sit on a stump, Eat a cake! Masha from the box again yells: - I can see, I see! Do not sit on a stump, Do not eat a cake! Bring it to my grandma Bring it to my grandpa!

Surprised is the bear: - Here she is, so awesome tricky! High sitting in a tree, far looking! Bear got up and went quickly. He came to the village, found the house where the grandparents lived, and began knocking at the gate: - Knock, knock, knock! Unlock, open! I have goodies from Masha.

The dogs smelled the bear and ran at him. From all households dogs are running, barking. Scared is the bear, takes the box from his backpack, puts the box at the gate and ran into the woods without looking back.

Grandfather came to the gate. Sees - there is box. - What is in the box? - Said the grandmother. The grandfather lifted the lid, watching - and could not believe his eyes. Masha sits in the box, healthy and happy. Delighted are the grandfather and the grandmotherand they began to hug, kiss Masha.

    End of story.
