		Today Marty and I are off to Yaroslavl to meet with our group of artisans that have been making knitting needles for us over the past year. The group ranges in age from early 20's through their 50's and French, Russian and English are the languages of the workplace. Yaroslavl has historically been the center of Russian lacquer painting and we are fortunate to be able to draw from this tradition. As we pack our bags with warm sweaters and boots, we are very excited to taste the hospitality that is bred from sub zero winter days in this city 400 km north east of Moscow on the Volga River. 		Before heading by train to Yaroslavl, we will visit with Vadim and Galina, the Moscow area artisans who have been supplying us with beautiful knitting needles and wooden buttons for over 12 years. From the balcony of their small apartment, they produce more than 2000 needles a month. All we have asked of them is that they be whimsical with their designs and the results have been wonderful.
